that's what it feels like

Mar 14, 2019 8:09 PM by Discussion: Life, the Universe and Everything

An update on me. Just got back from seeing my cancer doc. Mine is stage 3b adenocarcinoma. Non small cell lung cancer and I'm going to be treated systemically (I think that's what it's called) with Keytruda. My doctor says the markers needed are there, which is a good thing. However being that it is stage 3 it won't go away forever and I'll have to deal with it as is. I'm going to be getting a port installed (good choice of words?) beneath my right shoulder simply because it'll be easier than sticking a needle in my arm every time they need a sample or to inject medication. Hence my reference to Borg because I feel like one. My doctor also wants a CT scan to have a look inside mine head. Why I dunno because I told him there ain't much there, if anything, to see but he insisted. Fortunately my adopted daughter Jessie has taken control over the whole shebang because I doubt I'd be able to follow half of what all those doctors I've seen had to say. Tell you that girl is worth her weight in gold. She is so meticulous and keeps track of every little detail. So this is where I'm at. It remains to be seen how long it all lasts. But I are positive and don't intend to stress it, that will only make things worse. So first a pacemaker then a port. What could come next? Peanut gallery comments welcome.

This popped up on the news a couple of hours ago. Two well known actresses, a co-founder of a global law firm and other assorted very rich people shelled out millions of dollars to get their kids into elite colleges. Why am I not surprised.

Here we go again lol

Well like the title says I'm back in the hospital because my COPD kicked up big time. Shortness of breath, ugly loud coughs and coughing up ugly phlegm. The mass in my lung is still there and I'm to see a cancer doc soon for palliative care options. Could be surgery or chemo or radiation. The surgery part I'm hoping is a last resort. I'll do the other nonsense and be a bald person, no problem. Then I can make other people jealous. I've had three breath therapies since I've been here. Got here around one this afternoon. Got a shot of steroids to open my lungs and some heavy duty antibiotics. And I got some perks to boot. I can use my laptop here, got cable TV and access to halfway decent channels. Stay tuned for further developments.

*i sound like a commercial lol*

I edited my original post about my hp being back up and running, it isn't. First it slowed down to a crawl and I get a stop code that says unmountable boot volume. I tried booting it up with the USB hoping to repair it. No go as the repair screen never came up. Now I'm trying to reinstall Windows and the first time it came back with an error message that says cannot install Windows on specified drive partition. I did not have this problem before. I'm literally at my wits end with this. Refurbished laptop, 16 gigs of ram a new hard drive and now this. I'm attempting to install Windows again. If this doesn't work I don't know what else to do. I can't afford a new one and I'm strapped now as it is. Any suggestions at all.

EDIT:

New HD arrived today and HP is back up and running. How long is anyone's guess lol.

A little preview...

This morning I turned on the laptop and it took twenty five minutes to boot. Started last night with all three browsers, Chrome, Edger and IE freezing and refusing to work. On the desktop...everything slowed to a crawl. Five minutes or better just to open explorer. Then a blue screen comes up and says unmountable boot volume. Googled it and followed the instructions. Boot from the USB choose repair system, that never came up. Hard shut down wait a few seconds and hit the power button again. I press escape to the start menu and choose boot from USB. No repair screen comes up and now I'm staring at a BSOD! Now I'm beginning to wonder if all this was just a fucking waste! Sorry but I'm not very calm right now. I'm ready to trash this damn thing.

I'm not liking this too much :(

Just as I was uploading a rainmeter skin, after hitting submit, my laptop stopped working and the stop code was Service Exception something. I don't remember all of it, I was in a bit of shock. Then a black screen telling me there is no boot loader. Nada zip zero zilch! How the hell does an upload wipe out my hard drive. Every damn thing is gone!! To say I'm pissed is an understatement. Any ideas, suggestions would be welcome. Please

BTW: I'm back on my old laptop.

I like clocks...

While looking for examples of rainmeter clocks I found this. Some really cool rainmeter skins. I dl'd 7 of them. 4 out of the 7 I couldn't use. One was way too big, took up nearly the whole screen top to bottom and everything ground to halt. Another was set at the wrong time, either 5 hours behind or ahead so it went. The other 2 weren't properly created in rainmeter as a rmskin. That one was a disappointment. It was a really good SteamPunk skin. The 2 I have on my screen are simply circle and Scroll.
